Islamic Sciences Programme
The full Islamic Sciences Programme is the first 3 years of the Alim course which 6th Formers study in conjunction with their A levels and adult and part-time students study separately.
At each level of the ISP, the full range of subjects will be compulsory for successful progression to the next level. Thus there are no specific entry requirements for each subject; instead, entry requirements apply to each level as shown below. However, for part time students, their is some flexibility and the course is structured in a different way, please go to the part time Alim Course section for details and exact course maps.

ISP Level One (ISP1)
Entry requirements
4 GCSE's at grades A-C. Adult applicants without GCSE's must demonstrate their ability to study in English and their commitment to the course. They may be required to sit a written test for this.
Progression
Successful completion of level 1 will enable students to progress to level 2 of the ISP programme.
Assessment
All ISP subjects are internally assessed. Some subjects are partly or fully assessed orally. See additional comments in the chart below.

| Seerah & Hadith (Life of the Prophet) |
You will study the life of the Prophet SAW based on a selected text in the first 2 terms followed by a study of a selection of 40 hadiths of the Prophet SAW such as the collection of Imam Nawawi. | Common with areas in the GCSE Religious Studies syllabus. | |
| Arabic Language | You will learn to read and write Arabic from the basic level upwards. You will acquire basic skills of communication, learning to understand and speak basic Arabic set in every day life contexts. You will also study some classical literature as an introduction to classic Arabic. | The course will cover all aspects of the GCSE syllabus and is closely linked to the grammar subjects, Sarf and Nahw. | Students will sit the GCSE examination first, which involves one oral examination followed by an internal assessment for entry into level 2 of the ISP. | Arabic Grammar covering Sarf (morphology) and Nahw (syntax) | You will study the grammatical rules of forming Arabic words based on the rules of etymology and the grammatical rules of forming Arabic sentences and their detailed breakdown according to the rules of syntax. ISP Level Two (ISP2)
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs grades A-C including GCSE Arabic or ability in Arabic at that level. Adults and students of other Darul Ulooms must demonstrate their ability to study in English, their ability in Arabic and their commitment to the course. They may need to sit a written test in English and Arabic.
Progression
Successful completion of level 2 will enable students to progress to level 3 of the ISP course.

ISP Level Three (ISP3)
Entry requirements
Enrolment into the ISP course at this level will only be suitable for students who have completed Yr 2 of the Alimiyyah course (Arabi Daum) or equivalent at other Islamic Institutes such as Darul Ulooms and Madrasahs. These students must also demonstrate their ability to study in English, their ability in Arabic and their commitment to the course. For this they may need to sit written tests.
Progression
Students who complete level 3 successfully will receive a certificate of Ijaza (permission) in the sciences they have studied at EC. The certificate will also allow students entry into year 4 (Arabi Chaharum or Rabi'ah) of the Alimiyyah course at Madrasahs and Darul Ulooms in England and abroad as well as higher courses in Islamic universities in the Arab world.
