Press ReleaseWinner of Free Umrah Trip Announced...

The winner of the umrah prize draw, courtesy of Ebrahim College, was announced on Friday 11th February 2011.

Miss Ruji Khatun from East London won the competition. Her name was chosen randomly from a pool of names entered into the prize draw. Mohammed Mushfique Uddin (CEO – Ebrahim College) personally called her to congratulate her and give her the good news. Ruji will be joining the Makka Twin Peaks Challenge team in April 2011 to perform Umrah. Her brother will also be joining her and will be taking part in the sponsored charity mountain climbs.

Makka Twin Peaks Challenge (www.makkatwinpeaks.org.uk) is a fundraising initiative of Ebrahim College (www.ebrahimcollege.org.uk) which takes people to Makka, Saudi Arabia to climb Mount Noor and Mount Thawr on the same day. As part of the trip, participants also perform Umrah (minor Hajj or pilgrimage) under the guidance of scholars.

Ebrahim College (EC) is an Islamic sixth form and madrasah, based in Whitechapel, which, at the core of its academic offering, combines A levels with a programme called the 'Islamic Sciences Programme' (ISP). It is an Islamic Jami'ah (higher education institute) offering the complete traditional Alim course combined with secular qualifications.
